Are we a club in crisis ? A report .

For too long we have relied upon and perhaps taken for granted the good efforts of Pat, Clare and Arthur. Not least because without Pat to tow the trailer down to Talysarn on a regular basis, Friday club nights cannot function . Well the inevitable has happened and Pat has succumbed to illness and and feels she can longer stand duty with the trailer. The problem is compounded by the fact that very few of us have a tow bar fitted to our cars. Those who can tow are not always available and their timetable does does not always coincide with ours and the equipment may be late arriving. CanolfanTalysarn is unable to offer any storage, the centre being under extreme pressure from all users for storage space. One option would be to leave the trailer in the car park at Talysarn but notwithstanding the risk of damage and vandalism [sorry folks at Talysarn but it's true] we currently have no trailer insurance and the cost of same is in excess of £400 ! A second option is to purchase 2 smaller targets which could be transported more easily in the back of  a  "hatchback". These would be suitable for both compound and recurve archers but we would need to impose a more disciplined approach to our shooting timetable. Then there is the vexing question of where do we keep the smaller targets, equipment etc  and who will be responsible for their collection ?
We have of course considered other venues but basically that does not resolve any problems merely move them to a new location.
The option of moving to Caernarfon and trying to increase membership numbers from a larger catchments area was considered but given that we would need to pay for additional space and run more/larger  begginers courses. Which puts more pressure upon the coaches but does not create any more shooting time for a existing members .and still does not resolve the equipment transportation problem.
Any money spent on additional equipment and especially insurance would impact upon the ability of Dyffryn Nantlle Archers to survive under any guise.

At present Glynlifion is being under used [especially by the juniors] and we do not cover our costs, without the "have a go's" it is non-viable. But we do have storage there and transportation is not an issue. We also have the opportunity to expand and incorporate a longer range which will be more beneficial to the progress of our archers shooting skills.
The easy option is to abandon Talysarn but as we started  and received most, if not all of our grant funding for the Junior club it would be very difficult to justify and a hard day to announce its closure.

One more problem that needs to be addressed is that of officers of the club as we are currently lacking bodies. In order to function properly we need more serving members [In fact we need more members !] The A.G.M has
